CASE: Jokakoti.fi – real estate web service for MTV3
Jokakoti.fi is brand new real estate service from MTV3, the Finnish commercial television station. Our task was to create a brand new web service concept for a highly competitive and established business domain. We wanted to create something that is easy and fun to use, but also adds relevant value through solid user experience.
Involving users in fast-paced service development – how to be ready in 4 weeks
In the project, we took real customers and end users, such as real estate brokers, as a part of design and development from Day 1. By applying our UI Camp method, we combined research, user understanding, design and concept delivery in one seamless package – all within the duration of 4 weeks and still allowing time for iteration with relevant stakeholders.
We were able to create a leading vision that guided service development from the very start to service launch and to supplementary releases of the service.
Here are some examples of our early phase design candidates, iterations, logo types and final design.
Steps in a high level:
Week 1: high pressure
- tons of ideas, all mapped
- prioritized use cases & stories
- high level personas to steer development
- technology check
Week 2: design drafts & users (participatory design)
- creating all ideas to concrete first designs
- initial designs used in four different participatory design sessions
Week 3: wireframes and more design
- based on user sessions, design was focused to the right direction
- understanding the big picture: what needs to be done and how
- wireframing and visual design
Week 4: final design
- delivery of final design to be accepted by our client
- verification with implementation partner and end users
After the final go from our client we began iterative hands-on design with the implementation company and delivered all the material and specifications needed to launch a successful service.
Adding brand flavour
During the project, Idean took the responsibility of designing an appropriate brand for the service. The service name, Jokakoti.fi, was selected from a huge number of candidates to reflect the nature of the service.
Needless to say, we are very proud of our work. If you would like to know more, do not hesitate to contact us right now.
